WTC 2023-25 Points Table: Here's a look at the latest standings after Sri Lanka win against England

Things took an unexpected turn as far as the standings are concerned with respect to the 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship after Sri Lanka’s historic eight-wicket win against England in the third and final Test of the series, played at the Kennington Oval.

Going down in the first two Tests, the Dhananjaya de Silva-led side turned the tide with a landmark victory against the hosts, despite conceding 221 and taking only three wickets on the first day of the game which was marked by overcast conditions.

The islanders chased down the highest fourth innings target in England since 2010 to overtake Pope and Co. in the standings on the basis of the percentage of points (PCT), despitehaving played nine matches fewer. England’s position could largely be attributed 19 points lost due to several over rate penalties in the cycle so far.

With regards to Bangladesh, they jumped to the fourth place after their historic 2-0 series win on Pakistani soil, with Pakistan receding to eighth position in the nine-nation event.

England have played the most matches in the current cycle, with 16 under their belt. England have four Tests left in the current cycle, three against the Kiwis and one against Zimbabwe and will have to buckle up if they want to be a part of the WTC final, slated to be played at Lord’s in June 2025.
