The much-awaited inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket finally got underway as Texas Super Kings (TSK) and Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) got against each other in the opening game on Thursday, July 13 at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas.

Texas Super Kings got their campaign off to a winning start as they beat the Knight Riders by 69 runs.

After being put in to bat first, TSK put on a massive total of 181/6 on the board. In reply, LAKR were bundled out for just 112 courtesy of a splendid bowling spell by Mohammad Mohsin – 4/8 in three overs.

The 27-year-old wrist spinner wreaked havoc with the ball as he cleaned up the lower order which included the prized scalp of Sunil Narine. Mohsin, born in Peshawar, made his first-class debut in the 2015-16 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. However, he failed to pick up a wicket in the entire tournament. He made his List-A debut three years later.

 

The 27-year-old has also played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he was initially picked up by the Peshawar Zalmi during the 2020 PSL Draft. He made his first appearance against the Karachi Kings and registered figures of 1/35 from his four overs.

 

Mohammad Mohsin is a huge Yuvraj Singh fan

Mohsin also a Computer Science graduate from the University of Engineering and Technology in Peshawar and has also played other sports like basketball, badminton, and table tennis. He is also a huge fan of the legendary India cricketer Yuvraj Singh and met his role model in Washington last year.

 

His splendid hundred in the Dallas Premier League helped him to get picked by TSK as a domestic wild-card pick. The spinner has played a total of seven first-class games, having eight wickets at an average of 25.62. In List-A cricket, he has taken eight wickets in seven matches at an economy of 4.97. He has also scored 351 runs in First Class cricket at an average of 31.90.
