Australian skipper Pat Cummins produced an excellent blinder early on Day 2 at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada, pulling off a sensational one-handed diving catch to dismiss Keacy Carty. West Indies had begun their innings in the morning, trailing by 286 runs.

Cummins came on to bowl the ninth over of the morning and delivered a good-length ball that nipped back into Carty. The right-hander pushed forward with his bat away from his pad, which resulted in a thick inside edge that popped up to the right side of the wicket.

The New South Wales cricketer immediately changed direction, sprinted toward the short square mid-wicket region, and dived full length to his right. He completed the catch inches above the ground with one hand, removing Carty for 6 and completing a spectacular catch in the match.

Earlier, the Aussies’ first innings was anchored by Alex Carey (63) and Beau Webster (60), with West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph impressing with a four-wicket haul. When the hosts began their innings, they lost early wickets, where Kraigg Brathwaite was dismissed for a duck in the second over by Josh Hazlewood.

Despite early setbacks, John Campbell steadied the innings with a composed 40, while Brandon King registered his maiden Test fifty, scoring 75. In the lower order, Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph added a crucial 51-run partnership for the eighth wicket, reducing the deficit significantly. West Indies were eventually wrapped up for 253, conceding a slender 33-run lead to the opposition. Nathan Lyon claimed three wickets, while Cummins and Hazlewood took two each.

However, the hosts fought back strongly in the final session. With the new ball, Jayden Seales dismissed both Australian openers, the youngster Sam Konstas (0) and Usman Khawaja (2). Konstas dragged one onto his stumps, while Khawaja was trapped LBW, unsuccessfully reviewing the decision.

At the end of Day 2’s play, Australia were 12 for 2 in their second innings, leading by 45 runs, with Cameron Green unbeaten on 6 and nightwatchman Lyon on 2.
