Rahul Dravid joined Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) pre-season camp in Jaipur on crutches and sporting a protective boot after sustaining an injury when playing cricket in his hometown Bengaluru ahead of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Royals’ official social media account revealed on Wednesday, March 12, that Dravid, who was appointed as their head coach last year, will join the camp in Jaipur. In the social media post, RR posted a picture of the former India head coach and asserted that he recovering well after injuring his foot.

“Dravid is recovering well and will join us today in Jaipur,” the Royals posted on ‘X’ before the former India skipper monitored a practice session.

Despite not being fully fit, Dravid remained actively involved in the session. He shook hands with the players before engaging in discussions with talented youngsters Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The latter, who made his international debut under Dravid’s coaching, was seen demonstrating shadow shots while seeking tips from the iconic batter.

The former Royals’ captain spent five seasons with the Royals from 2011 to 2015. He began his coaching career with the Royals back in 2014 when he started as their captain before taking over the role of a mentor. Since then, he has become the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and coached the India A and India U-19 teams. In 2021, he took charge as India’s head coach. Under his coaching, the Men in Blue made it to the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023, the ODI World Cup 2023, and the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Asian giants won the latter to end an 11-year ICC title drought.
