Young and upcoming batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi was spotted in stands at the Edgbaston stadium in Birmingham for the live action on Day 2 of the ongoing second Test between England and India. The youngster enjoyed Shubman Gill’s batting from the stands as the India skipper cruised past his double century in the afternoon session on the second day of the all-important Test.

Notably, Suryavanshi is a part of the India U-19 squad that is currently in the United Kingdom for a multi-format tour against England U-19 side. A few of Suryavanshi’s teammates were also spotted alongside as they saw the senior side not just gain the upper hand, but also dismantle the English bowling unit after being in a spot of bother on the opening day of the game.

Speaking of the match, Gill was the aggressor on the second day, as looked to rebuild from a collapse on the first day. The captain combined his batting alongside Ravindra Jadeja to put up a solid 203-run stand for the sixth wicket. Jadeja remained 11 short of his century at the point of his dismissal, post which Tamil Nadu’s Washington Sundar joined Gill in the middle.

Gill, who reached his double hundred off just 311 deliveries, upped the ante and accelerated the flow of runs. Sundar played an able partner and had equal contribution in their partnership during the second session of the day. With the scoreboard having crossed the 550-run mark, the onus will now be upon the pace attack to contain the English batting when the first inning wraps up.

Notably, India are without their mainstay pacer Jasprit Bumrah, as the pace attack will now consist of Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna with Nitish Kumar Reddy as the fourth medium-pace option. A crucial stage of the game is on the cards, as India look to level the five-match series with three more to go after this.
