We both have been trying this for so long: Kohli

Virat Kohli was part of the Indian team that won the 2011 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium and Rohit was dropped ahead of the tournament. But the Indian opener debuted for India in the T20 World Cup 2007 and was part of the champion side. The duo announced retirement from T20Is after the win and Virat expressed his emotions and uttered what the victory meant for him and Rohit.

“Honestly, I  could not connect with the emotions of the senior players at that point of time (2011 World Cup glory). I was like, I don’t understand why they were crying. For me, it felt like yeah, we won the World Cup it’s as easy as that. I was 22 or 23. But now it is a different feeling,” said Kohli in his speech during the victory parade.

“Rohit has played for so long as well. We both have been trying this for so long… trying our hardest when I was captain. He is a senior player in the team now. He’s captain. I’m one of the senior players in the team. The only aim was to win India World Cup,” he added.
