Tri-Nation ODI Series 2025: Sri Lanka Women vs South Africa Women, Match 6 Preview

Tri-Nation ODI Series 2025: Sri Lanka Women vs South Africa Women, Match 6 Preview

The last round robin game of the Tri-Nation series is set to be played between Sri Lanka Women (SL-W) and South Africa Women (SA-W) on Friday, May 9, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This will be the sixth game of the series, which will be a dead rubber fixture with the finalists already being decided.

Sri Lanka have already qualified for the finals and won two of their three games so far. The Chamari Athapaththu-led side will be facing South Africa for the second time in the series. It were the Lankan Lionesses who came out on top in a low-scoring one-sided fixture against the Proteas and would want to end with a victory just before the final against India Women.

The South African women’s team have had a disappointing series so far, where they have failed to win a single game in the last three matches they have featured in. The side led by Laura Wolvaardt will be looking to end the otherwise forgettable series with a win in the upcoming game against the home team. They will also want to avenge their loss they suffered in the last encounter.

Pitch Report

The R Premadasa Stadium has been a venue which has been the surface which been a batting first wicket in the majority of the games that have been played. The wicket is on the slower side and has given a lot of grip to the bowlers, which has made it difficult to chase down targets at this venue. Looking at the previous games, the best decision would be to bat first on this surface.

Head-to-Head record

Despite South Africa Women’s poor run in the series, they still hold a lead against Sri Lanka Women in the format in the 24 games they have played so far.
