Suresh Raina set to make big-screen debut with Tamil movie

Suresh Raina set to make big-screen debut with Tamil movie

Former cricketer Suresh Raina has often been popular among his fans for not just on-field antics, but also his gigs off-the-field. He recently opened a restaurant in Amsterdam, and is often seen being in the commentary box for matches, especially during the Indian Premier League. Now, in a latest development, it can be confirmed that Raina will be making his debut as an actor with a Tamil film in the coming times.

Dream Knight Studios (DKS), the production house for Raina’s silver screen debut, released a video that shared the video of the film announcement on their official social media page. Raina is seen walking onto the field of a cricket stadium in a non-match attire, which signifies the beginning of his new innings. The Uttar Pradesh cricketer opened up on his idea behind making a debut with a Tamil film, since he has spent a lot of time in the state of Tamil Nadu, while representing Chennai Super Kings. The beloved CSK fans also call him fondly as ‘Chinna Thala‘.

“I think DKS has a good director, and when the story was narrated to me, it felt very close to our journey. Being a cricket-based movie, it had to start from Tamil Nadu because I’ve played many matches here for CSK, and the people have always shown immense love,” Raina was quoted as saying during the film announcement’s press conference event.

Raina feels being a good singer

He further revealed how his acting aspirations will help him find a niche beyond the field of cricket, personifying the chill and charming character that he carries. The Southpaw believes he will make a very good musician, donning a guitar instead of a cricket bat in his hands. He says he also enjoys making dosa and rasam rice (South Indian delicacies) for his teammates and live his life like a chill guy.

“I think I’ll be a very good singer. Having a guitar in my hand. Making a nice dosa for my teammates. Enjoying rasam rice. I’ll be chilled out. No stress,” the Ghaziabad-born added.

Speaking of the 38-year-old’s IPL blitz, he is still among the top run-getters of the league despite playing his last in 2021 edition of the tournament. He was also the first-ever batter to cross the 5000-run mark in the league. With his association alongside the CSK franchise, he has become a fan favourite, as he was a part of the side that lifted four IPL titles.
