India skipper Rohit Sharma has been under heavy criticism thanks to his recent performances for the Indian team. Rohit recently led India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Down Under, where team India lost three Tests, drew one, and only won one, conceding the Border-Gavaskar title for the first time in a decade.

Meanwhile, during a discussing in a talk show, a panel featuring the likes of Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist had some cheeky remarks on Rohit Sharma’s “PR team”. When asked about which team across world cricket had a good summer, one of the speakers on the panel responded “Rohit Sharma’s PR team”

“Well, it has to be Rohit Sharma’s PR team. They had a good summer – came in late, missed the Test match, had a rest for the last Test match, and still weren’t dropped! And then, he wants to play,” Higgins went on to say,” Ian Higgins of The Grade Cricketer said.

Meanwhile, after the subpar performances in the longest format, Rohit Sharma made the decision to link up with Mumbai ahead of their Ranji Trophy matches. Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, who was critical of the senior players for not playing domestic cricket, expressed delight on the decision.

“Yes, it’s a good thing because, look, he didn’t get runs in Australia, so he knows he needs to spend time out in the middle. How much net practice you have or however many throwdowns you face, batting in a game, feeling the ball in the middle of the bat, knowing that a mistake will send you back to the pavilion, and then still scoring runs is a big, big difference,” Gavaskar told India Today.
