England Women have had a series to forget as far as the ongoing edition of the Women’s Ashes is concerned. The six games played in the white-ball format (three ODIs and three T20Is) have all tilted towards the hosts. Only one game in the series remains, the iconic pink-ball Test, scheduled to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

English vice-captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, provided an update on 33-year-old Kate Cross’ recpvery from the back injury which ruled her out of the games which went by this tour.

“She’s tracking good. It was nice to see her rocking out a few overs in the nets, I think she got through two spells today. I don’t know [if she is available], you’ll have to ask the physio who’ll review with her and see if she got through the net session alright. But, it’s great to see her back to being herself. Seeing her in a lot of pain in the last month has been quite difficult, and she’d have been feeling that as well,” stated Sciver-Brunt, as quoted by Morning Star.

The last few days have been tough: Sciver-Brunt

The all-rounder seemed eager to cap off the series on a high. She also urged her side to come together and perform as a complete unit to redeem themeselves, for whatever it’s worth.

“Runs aside, I’d like to have a good showing in myself really, for my personal pride, I guess. You just keep putting yourself out there. When you’re six games down in a series, it’s easy to go into your shell a little bit, but I’m willing to put myself out there again and try to stand up for the team. Hopefully, we put on a good showing. We’re grateful we’ve got the opportunity to do that after six games. The last few days have been tough, but we’ll do our best,” added Sciver-Brunt.

The first-ever floodlit Test in Melbourne will be a great opportunity for England to salvage some pride via their performances. In the six matches she played, Sciver-Brunt has only managed to score 156 runs at an average of 26.33.
