Star wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim’s father Mahbub Habib Tara has expressed his earnest desire to see his son play his final international game at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura. His father said the same during a mass signature campaign demanding the reinstatement of the stadium as a venue under the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Notably, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently withdrew all the equipment from the ground stating that the local authority is not cooperating with them. Now, soon after the signing episode, Mahbub stated that he will be very happy if Mushfiqur ends up playing his last game in Bogura.

“I want my son Mushfiqur to play his last international match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura. All the people of Bogura including myself will be happy if the son of the country and the son of the family plays his last game in Bogura.

If Mushfiq can finish his international career in his own country, in his own area, there is nothing more to ask for,” Mahbub said as quoted by The Daily Star.

Meanwhile, speaking about the mass signing, Mushfiqur’s father stated BCB’s withdrawal is shocking and sad. He also reminded that it’s the only international ground in the northern region and thus, the board should have acted better.

“The issue of withdrawal of BCB venue is very sad and shocking. Bogura’s Shaheed Chandu Stadium is the only international ground for the residents of Bogura and of the northern region. The pitches of this stadium are the in Bangladesh after Mirpur,” he added.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s poor form continues

Mushfiqur Rahim’s form is a massive concern for the Bangladesh team at the moment. The 35-year-old hit 16 off 34 deliveries in the first ODI against England while scored only 4 off 5 deliveries in the second match. He is not being able to give stability to Bangladesh’s middle order and that will bother the team, considering that the ODI World Cup will begin in just a few months time.

He, however, will have the opportunity to return back to form and show his class when Bangladesh take on England at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on March 6.
