Mohammed Shami likely to make comeback with Ranji Trophy 2024-25

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is expected to make his way back to competitive cricket with 2024-25 Ranji Trophy He is expected to represent Bengal in either of their first two games, against Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Since there is only a two-day gap between the fixtures, it is improbale that the senior pacer will feature in both the games.

It is also reported that if the recovery is satisfactory as per the BCCI standards, then Shami could well and truly make his return to international cricket against New Zealand when they tour India for a three-match Test series, scheduled to commence in mid-October.

Given Shami’s quick recovery pace, he is expected to play at least one of the three Tests against the Kiwis before Rohit Sharma and Co. kickstart their tour Down Under for the Border-Gavaskar series, which will comprise five games spanning from November and spilling into the next year.

The sensational pacer was all set to be a part of the T20 World Cup 2024 squad after having an exquisite 50-over World Cup last year, where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker with 24 scalps in merely seven innings. However, injury had other plans for the gritty athlete as an Achilles tendon issue sidelined him for an extended period.
