Mumbai Indians dispatched Sunrisers Hyderabad in a one-sided contest in their bid to secure the last remaining playoff spot of IPL 2023 in front of their home crowd at the Wankhede. While the home side were in full control of the chase, there were a few nervy moments in the middle as Cameron Green pursued his maiden IPL century.

Rohit Sharma’s men were in a commanding position in the second innings of their must-win encounter, thanks to Cameron Green’s belligerence with the bat. The towering Aussie all-rounder showed no mercy to the Hyderabad bowlers in one of the innings of the tournament so far.

While the Mumbai-based outfit was cruising in their chase, the home fans endured a few nervy moments after Green breached the 90-run mark. With his side in touching distance of victory, the Aussie was in danger of being left stranded at one end.

However, Indian batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav curbed his natural ultra-attacking instinct and sneaked a dangerous single to get Green back on strike. Following his side’s victory, the Indian star revealed it was the hardest single he ever took.

“That one at the end was the hardest single I ever took and watched the ball closely. Green batted brilliantly and deserved the hundred. We didn’t have NRR worries and thought it’d be a special ton which it was,” SKY told the broadcasters after MI’s eight-wicket win.

The no.1 ranked T20 batter in the world has been entertaining the fans with some jaw-dropping strokeplay in the last few years, and one of his latest innovative shots has become the talk of the town. SKY, as he is commonly referred to, revealed mastering the slice/drive, which looks like a genuine edge on first viewing.

“Yes, I did. I’ve played that shot in my mind 100-150 times. Now I know I can execute it and I’m glad,” the 32-year-old said whether he intentionally opened the face of the bat.
