Star Indian dasher Suryakumar Yadav has emerged as the most innovative batter in white-ball cricket ever since his return to Mumbai Indians in 2018. Ahead of his side’s pivotal clash against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023, the Mumbai batter revealed the backing he received after joining the camp in 2018.

The five-time champions have unearthed some absolute superstars over the years, and Suryakumar Yadav is another feather in their illustrious cap. The T20 batting sensation, who has been a revelation in the shortest format of the game, revealed the backing he received from the franchise after returning to Mumbai in 2018.

“When I returned to Mumbai Indians in 2018, it feels like I returned back to my family, they trusted me a lot, and gave me the opportunity to bat up the order and it was a big turning point. I scored runs in 2018 and my role changed from next year. Then I came to know that my role is going to be this with the team.

They gave me clarity in my role and trusted me, it was time I paid them back and take my game to the next level. I tried to take my game to the next level, and practised. They travelled 2 steps, I did 4. The bond is strong,” said Suryakumar during the interview.
