KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya share a close bond off the field but on the field, the two players will meet for one last time this season on Friday. The Indian Premier League 2024 journey ends for Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday.

Mumbai Indians were hoping for glory when they came into the season under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. What transpired was completely different as the Mumbai Indians team is battling it out to avoid a wooden spoon finish for the second time in their distinguished IPL journey.

KL Rahul’s side meanwhile began the season with a loss to Rajasthan Royals before winning the next three games. Their unbeaten run was halted with two losses in two games before beating Chennai Super Kings at home and away. With a 10-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad, their chances of making it to the playoffs took a huge beating. With a loss to Delhi Capitals in their last game their fate was sealed in the tournament.

Here are the three players to have played for both MI and LSG in the league’s history:

3. Arshad Khan

The talented all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh made his IPL debut with Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2023 season. The left-arm seamer played 6 games for MI and grabbed 5 wickets with a best of 3/39.

Arshad Khan was released by Mumbai Indians and brought by Lucknow Super Giants for the current season. In the three games he has played, Arshad Khan has picked just 1 wicket but his 58 not out against Delhi Capitals showed how dangerous he is with the bat in hand.

2. Quinton De Kock

South African star Quinton De Kock was more or less a journeyman before his move to the Mumbai Indians in 2019. His three-year stint in Mumbai saw De Kock capture two titles and score 1329 runs from 43 games. Quinton De Kock scored 10 half-centuries for Mumbai Indians with an average of 34 and a strike rate of 131.

After being cut from the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of the IPL 2022 season, De Kock moved to Lucknow Super Giants. In 30 matches for LSG, De Kock has scored 901 runs with 7 fifties and 1 century with an average of 31 and a strike rate of 143 which is his best in IPL.

1. Krunal Pandya

Just a year after his younger brother Hardik Pandya was picked by Mumbai Indians as part of the IPL 2015 winning team, Krunal Pandya too was picked by the MI side. His 6 years at MI saw Krunal win three titles and play 84 matches. With the bat, Krunal scored 1143 runs with one half-century and a strike rate of 138.5. Krunal Pandya also picked 51 wickets with the ball with a best of 3/14.

The move to Lucknow Super Giants happened in 2022 where Krunal Pandya has endured a mixed time with the bat and ball.  In 42 games for LSG, the 33-year-old has scored 42 matches scoring 492 runs with a best of 49 not out. Krunal Pandya has managed to pick only 24 wickets with the ball with a best of 3/11 an economy rate of 7.38 runs per over.
