The 37th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 features a heavyweight clash between the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings and the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday, April 27.

Ahead of the game, Chennai would hope their top-order batters to put up impressive performances. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway have been in sensational form at the IPL 2023. However, before picking up on his form, Conway was struggling quite a bit in the early stages of the competition. He was dismissed scoring just a single in the season opener and then for a duck in the third game of the competition.

Touching upon the same, former Australian batter Matthew Hayden revealed that he was quite worried for Chennai and Conway’s batting style during the start of the tournament.

“Initially, I was worried about Devon Conway as he was taking some time in the powerplay while Ruturaj Gaikwad was playing the aggressor. But in the last few games, Conway has shifted gears. At the start of the season, the opening partnership for CSK was going hot and cold, but now there is consistency. Good to see that Conway, being a senior player, taking the leadership role,” Hayden told Star Sports.

CSK aim to win their sixth game of the IPL 2023

As CSK gear up to take on Rajasthan Royals, the four-time champions will be keen on staying atop the IPL points table. Coming off consecutive losses in their last two games, Rajasthan would hope that fortune turns in their favour as they play their second game of the season in Jaipur.

Currently, the Sanju Samson-led side find themselves in third place in the standings with eight points in seven games. On the other hand, Chennai sit in first place with 10 points in seven games. Led by MS Dhoni, the team would be keen on registering their sixth win of the season and maintaining their winning run.
