The unrelenting manner in which Team India dominated the visitors in the series opener in Kolkata was not what a lot of people would have foreseen ahead of the commencement of the T20I series. Opting to bowl first, India restricted their opponents to a meagre 132, before tracking down the score without breaking a sweat with seven wickets and 43 deliveries in the bank. Despite the hosts getting challenged in both aspects on the field in the second game in Chennai, they clinched a narrow two-wicket victory to double their lead.
As for England, they would desperately want to get back to winning ways, with the third T20I of the five-match rubber at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot laying forth the perfect platform to initiate their resurgence. With the upcoming fixture being a make-or-break contest as far as staying alive in the series is concerned, it will be a fascinating watch with regard to how England go about their gameplay and tactics during the game.
3. Adil Rashid

Despite being given the treatment in the first game, Adil Rashid managed to pick up a wicket. The wily leg-spinner came back strongly in the subsequent fixture to end up with figures of 1/14 in his allotted four-over quota. In addition to not giving any extras, he conceded only one boundary in what was an impressive performance by him.
As per the statistics in all domestic and international 20-over games played in Rajkot since the start of 2024, spinners have been almost at par with pacers in terms of wickets taken (82 vs 84). However, when it comes to the economy rate, they have been significantly better than the fast bowlers (7.18 vs 8.46). Keeping the aforementioned numbers in mind, a lot would be on the shoulders of Rashid. His spell is expected to have a big impact on the game. Securing a few wickets would definitely not hurt his side’s cause.
2. Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone departed for a silver duck and a 14-ball 13 score in the first couple of games, respectively. He has not been provided much opportunity to express himself with the ball as well. The explosive batter has only scored a single boundary in the ongoing series up until now.
To put things into perspective, Livingstone has not been his usual all-round self for quite some time now. Before the series, he was involved with the Bangla Tigers and Pretoria Capitals in the Abu Dhabi T10 and the SA20, respectively. In both the tournaments, his performances were nothing more than mediocre. Having been a part of 57 T20Is and close to 300 T20s in his career at present, the experienced professional’s performance would be vital for the English unit to have any probability of staging a comeback.
1. Jos Buttler

The English white-ball skipper, Jos Buttler, has been the only bright spark for England in the two games played so far. In the first game, he scored a brisk 44-ball 68 and was quite literally a one-man army against a bubbly Indian bowling unit; which was four times the second-highest run-scorer in that innings. On a tricky top in Chennai, he was once again his side’s top-scorer.
With the surface in Rajkot expected to be quite a handful for spinners to operate on, Buttler performing with the bat would be of utmost importance for his side. Being the only person who has looked set, his knock would be crucial in determining the outcome of the game. His outing with the bat would also be crucial for the others to gain much-needed inspiration.
