India (IND) will clash with England (ENG) in the fifth T20I of the five-match series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, February 02. Suryakumar Yadav’s men have already clinched the series by taking an unassailable 3-1 lead. They will look to finish off on an emphatic note. Meanwhile, England would be playing for pride against the Men in Blue on Sunday.

India won the first T20I comprehensively in Kolkata to start the series on a promising note. They followed it up with a narrow two-wicket win in Chennai. The Three Lions bounced back to win the third T20I in Rajkot. However, India returned to winning ways in the fourth T20I in Pune to take the series. While this match holds little relevance as the series has already been decided, both teams will want to come out with a victory ahead of the ODIs.

Meanwhile, let’s look at 3 potential Indian impactful players in 5th T20I

3. Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma is the leading run-getter in the series. He has scored 144 runs from four matches at a commendable average of 36.00 and an awe-inspiring strike rate of 197.26. Abhishek looked in good touch in the fourth T20I, but he eventually perished for a 19-ball 29. He has only one half-century in the series. The Punjab cricketer would want to register another big score on Sunday.

Abhishek will enjoy batting at the Wankhede Stadium. The surfaces at the venue are usually very good for batting. Abhishek, who likes to play his shots, might score big if he gives himself a little bit of time at the crease. The 24-year-old is also a good player of spin, and he wouldn’t mind taking on the relatively short boundaries at the iconic venue.

2. Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy has been in remarkable form since he made his comeback to the Indian team last year. The mystery spinner is the leading wicket-taker in the series. He has picked up 12 wickets from four matches at a stunning average of 9.42 and an impressive strike rate of just 8.00. Chakravarthy has conceded runs at an economy rate of just 7.06. He also has had the number of Harry Brook, who is one of the most talented young cricketers at the moment. The Tamil Nadu bowler has taken the wicket of Brook in three out of the four T20Is.

Chakravarthy has changed the situations of the matches almost every time he has been introduced into the attack. Additionally, the leggie is Suryakumar’s most lethal weapon at the moment. It will be a challenge for him to do well at the Wankhede Stadium. However, he is at the peak of his powers and the confidence he is carrying will work in his favour.

1. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has not had a great time with the bat in the series so far. He has scored just 26 runs from four matches, and this includes a couple of ducks. However, the return to the Wankhede Stadium couldn’t have come at a better time for the 34-year-old.

Being from Mumbai, Suryakumar has grown up playing cricket at this venue. Also, he has been associated with the Mumbai Indians since 2012. His experience of playing at the Wankhede could come in handy. Suryakumar has led India’s T20 side well since he took charge last year.

If the Indian captain can get back among the runs in the last T20I, it will be an icing on the cake, as the game is also happening at his home ground.
