Star Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell remains tight-lipped about the recent ambulance drama that unfolded after a booze night out in Adelaide. The incident, which occurred on January 19, led to Maxwell being hospitalised after excessive drinking and dehydration left him unconscious. Despite multiple attempts to wake him up, his teammates could not, forcing them to call an ambulance.

After a brief time in the ambulance, the 35-year-old managed to regain consciousness but was admitted to the hospital for some time for further checkups. After spending a few hours in the hospital, he was released but the cricketer was far from fitness. He had to skip the ODI series against West Indies but is expected to return in the T20I leg, which is slated to begin on February 9.

Meanwhile, even after two weeks of the incident, Maxwell remains silent on what transpired that night. Building more curiosity on the matter, the cricketer has steadfastly avoided the questions from the media during the Allen Border Medal night and more recently at a golf event.

“I’m all good,” was quoted as saying by news.co.au when Maxwell was asked about the incident. However, it has raised a lot of questions, especially when he suffered multiple injuries in a bizarre fashion in the last couple of years. He broke his leg during a birthday party in 2022, while a freak golf injury ruled him out of Australia’s match against England in the ODI World Cup 2023.

I think over the next couple of years, we’ll still see the best of Maxwell: Aaron Finch

Maxwell’s long-time friend Aaron Finch believes that the all-rounder will keep providing match-winning knocks for his teams in the future. He added that the cricketer looked to be in great touch in the last couple of years and won’t be rusty when he makes his return.

“I think what we’ve seen over the last probably three years is the best of Glenn Maxwell on the field. And that’s because he’s got his body right. And then obviously the broken leg that was not ideal. And I think over the next couple of years, we’ll still see the best of him. So that’ll be that’ll be a part of it, making sure that his body stays healthy and he does everything right to make sure that he stays on the park as long as possible” Finch said.
