Top three iconic stadiums in the world

In most parts of the cricketing world, summers are about to arrive with some of the countries hosting home seasons in summer. On the other hand, teams like India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh host their home seasons in winter. While India will be hosting the Women’s and Men’s T20 League from March to May, England is about to see the start of cricket at the domestic level.

While the fans are looking forward to watching the games, the stadiums need to be ready for these events. There are many iconic cricket stadiums in the entire. The home ground of the Late Shane Warne and many other players from Victoria State in Australia, it has the largest boundary. Talking about the square boundaries, it is above 90 meters long which is why six hitting in this ground is the most difficult job.

On the other hand, it can house as many as 1,00,000 people in the stands. Not to forget, whenever Australia has hosted a World Cup (ODI WC in 1992, 2015 and 20-20 WC in 2022), the final has been played at this ground. Also, during the Aussie winters, the ground is used to host Australia Football League (AFL). 

2. Narendra Modi Stadium

Formerly known as Motera Stadium, the stadium was revamped a few years ago. Two years back, the stadium was inaugurated after the rebuilding ahead of the India vs England Test match that ended in two days. Meanwhile, the stadium has the capacity to house around 1,30,000 people.

Also, the stadium was built in such a way that it can also host some indoor sports. Last year, the final of the Men’s Indian T20 League was also hosted at this ground. This year, with the ODI World Cup in sight, the stadium might host either the final or some of the knockout games.

3. Galle International Stadium

Based in a Sri Lankan city Galle, is surrounded on both sides by the peaceful blue-turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Other majestic sights nearby include the centuries-old Galle Fort, which is well worth a closer look during the drinks break, for panoramic views over the greens of the turf.
