Top 3 wicket-keeping options for India for the T20I World Cup 2024

In just a few days the Indian selectors will sit to pick the team for the T20I World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma and his team will hope to win the first ICC title in 11 years when they travel to the West Indies and USA for the biggest event of 2024.

One of the hotly debated topics is the spot for the wicketkeeper in the upcoming tournament. This year the contenders for the wicketkeeper slot are giving it their all with some blazing performances.

Even the name of MS Dhoni who has been striking the ball well for CSK has been discussed. While a comeback to the team for the former India skipper remains unlikely, there are three players who will be in the spotlight for the role of the wicketkeeper.

Here are the three players who could be in the running for the wicket-keeping spot in the Indian team for the 2024 T20I World Cup.

1. Dinesh Karthik

The veteran star has yet again opened up the debate for a spot in the World Cup team with his brilliant batting for RCB in IPL 2024. Dinesh Karthik who turns 39 on the 1st of June is still fit and can take some brilliant catches behind the stumps.

It is his batting that has become a major talking point with some sensational knocks already played this year. Dinesh Karthik scored a valiant 83 for RCB in the scoring game against SRH at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. When asked about his aspirations for a possible comeback to the Indian team, Dinesh Karthik has shown his willingness.

2. Sanju Samson

Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson has had his best season as the skipper with some performances. The 29-year-old has also batted well and been at the top of his game during the IPL 2024 season.

India could do well to select Sanju Samson to the team for the role of a wicketkeeper and a steady batter. The best attribute that Sanju Samson has is the fact that he doesn’t seem to get fazed even during a tense situation just like MS Dhoni.

3. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant

After being out of the game for more than a year, Rishabh Pant is making up for a lost time. The 26-year-old smashed 88 runs off just 43 balls in the close against Gujarat Titans to show that he hasn’t lost a step since his return to the game.

Rishabh Pant is the biggest X-Factor not just in Indian Cricket but also in world cricket. The left-handed star has the ability to change the game just by being in the middle and hitting those huge sixes.
