Top 3 lowest totals by Australia against India in Tests

The Border Gavaskar Trophy was onto a disappointing start, but gradually the tables were turned by the fierce bowling line-up by India. As we proceeded to the second day of the Test, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were the opening batters and they brought havoc on the Australian Team. They remained undefeated as day two calls for stumps. The Indian Test team have a record of being exceptional and has destroyed the Australian team’s confidence quite a lot. There have been several instances where the Australian team have crumbled in front of the Indian team. Here are a few such instances to support this:

1.104 runs in Perth:

The 2024/25 Test series in Perth had seen a strong bowling attack from both teams. India who was batting first had been down by all wickets in 150 runs. Both teams were knocked down in the first four sessions. Jasprit Bumrah was up with his A Game as he took five wickets and saved India from facing a defeat in the hands of the Aussies and stopped them at 104 runs with a defeat of 46 runs.

2. 91 runs- Nagpur:

This was one of the lowest records that the Australian team had against the Indian team. This came in the opening game of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. India had a massive total of 223 run lead. The Indian bowling line-up was extremely strong with the help of their spin bowlers, the home team had brought havoc and scared away the Australian batting line-up, with back-to-back wickets.

3. 83 runs – Melbourne:

The lowest total against the Indian team was scored by Australia in the year 1981 in Melbourne in the Third Test. Kapil Dev, India’s then captain had shown his brilliance and was able to scare away the Australians, as they were chasing the India score set at 143; bringing the scoreboard to 5/28 in just 17 overs. Doug Walters was the maximum run-scoring batter securing just 18 runs. This wonderous performance by the Indian team brought the three-day Test series to 1-1.
