Top 3 Indian players to watch out for in Champions Trophy 2025

Check out the top 3 Indian players to watch in the Champions Trophy 2025. India will be taking part in the Champions Trophy 2025 as one of the favourites to win. The 2013 champions released their squad which had some great players. While the fitness of three of the key bowlers is an issue, India has a good squad, especially given the surface they play. India will be playing all their matches in UAE’s Dubai International Stadium.

Apart from India, other top teams in the tournament are Australia, South Africa, England, Pakistan, and New Zealand. For the first time in the history of the event, Afghanistan will be a part of the Champions Trophy. There have been a lot of controversies even before the start of the tournament. India would be hoping to win their first CT in 12 years.

Here are the Top 3 Indian players to watch out for in the Champions Trophy 2025:

1. Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya is an inseparable part of the Indian team in LOIs. In ODIs, he’s one of the key players in the Indian lineup. In big matches and tournaments, he often steps up and plays a big role for his team both as a batter and as a bowler. Hardik, in fact, was India’s best batter in the Champion Trophy 2017 final against Pakistan. His absence in the ODI World Cup 2023 was huge for India.

Hardik’s match against Bangladesh in the tournament was his last ODI appearance. It has been over 15 months since Pandya last played an ODI. The upcoming series against England would be crucial for him to get into the groove. He’s one player India always trusts to deliver, especially in the big tournaments. More often than not, Pandya does deliver.

2. Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh will become a key bowler for India in the Champions Trophy 2025. The fact that three of the main Indian bowlers Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kuldeep Yadav will be returning to the team following an injury would mean heavy reliance on his bowling. It could bring the best out of the left-arm pacer. India hasn’t gotten a pacer like Arshdeep in the recent past.

A left-arm pacer who could swing the ball both ways early in the innings and later execute yorkers and slower ones at the death might be the replica of Bumrah. While it’s not right to compare them, Arshdeep might be the best replacement for Bumrah. Additionally, he can bat a bit lower down the order. With Shami and Bumrah not at their fittest version, Arshdeep could be key for India.

3. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma will be the player to watch out for from India in the Champions Trophy 2025. The Indian skipper has been one of the best ODI batters in the world for a long time. His form in the last three years has been insane. The star opener has 1661 runs in 37 innings at a batting average of 50.33 and an exceptional batting strike rate of 118.56 including 2 hundreds and 14 fifties since 2022.

In the period, he has been arguably the best batter in ODIs alongside Travis Head. Rohit was the only Indian batter who seemed comfortable in the ODI series against Sri Lanka in 2024. Given his aggressive starts, India can bat well in the middle overs. If Rohit does well, India can be in a good position to post a good total on the board. His aggressive batting will be the highlight of the Indian innings.
