Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) released KL Rahul ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction due to internal conflicts. They were eying a player to replace Rahul as a captain during the auction and they got Rishabh Pant, who was released by Delhi Capitals (DC).
However, LSG had to pay a hefty amount to acquire the services of Pant as they signed him for a staggering amount of 27 crore. They have retained Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan ahead of the auction. Apart from Pant, there were also some great picks by LSG in the auction.
Here are the top 3 buys by LSG from the IPL 2025 mega auction:
Mitchell Marsh
Lucknow Super Giants got the services of star Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for 3.40 crore. Although LSG had Marcus Stoinis in the past season they didn’t retain him. So, it won’t be wrong to say that Marsh has replaced Stoinis in the team. LSG still lack a proper opener in the team, so, Marsh can be the one to open the innings for them.
David Miller
South African left-hander David Miller has been one of the veterans to ever play in the richest Cricket league in the world. Miller was a part of Gujarat Titans (GT) for the past three years and has delivered some great performances with his bat. However, now he will be donning the Lucknow Super Giants jersey in the upcoming season as he was signed for 7.50 crore.
Rishabh Pant
India’s young wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, created history by becoming the most expensive player in the history of IPL. The left-handed batter was sold to LSG for a whopping price of 27 crore. He is most likely to lead the team in the upcoming season.
