The elegant South African opener Quinton De Kock has turned 31 today. He has served South African cricket with his prolific batting and for a long time he has been consistent in all formats of the game. De Kock has bid adieu to ODI cricket after the World Cup but he left the format with outstanding batting performances that earned him a lot of praise from cricket fans across the globe.

Quinton De Kock’s journey from a young talented batter to being the backbone of the South African batting lineup has been exceptional. He played his first international match in T20 cricket against New Zealand in late 2012 and went on to make his ODI debut against the same opposition around a month later. His initial phase in international cricket was extraordinary as he scored a lot of runs against quality teams. His impressive performances in white ball cricket earned him an opportunity to wear the test cap for South Africa. The left-hander played his first Test match against Australia in 2014.

Rise to Prominence

Quinton De Kock quickly rose to prominence because of his batting exploits. Even in the brief phase of transition in South African cricket the wicketkeeper-batsman was steadfast and continued delivering performances. He has garnered phenomenal stats in all 3 formats of the game. De Kock has represented the Proteas in 54 test matches scoring 3300 runs at an average of 38.82. He has 6 centuries and 22 half-centuries to his name in test cricket. The left-handed opener played 155 One-Day internationals in his career where he scored 6770 runs at an average of 45.74 with 21 centuries to his name. In the shortest format of the game, he has amassed 2277 runs in 80 T20Is.
