On This Day | Perth Scorchers multiple champions won their second Big Bash League Title in 2015. Big Bash League (BBL) has seen multiple champions but one side that has been the most consistent is Perth Scorchers. The franchise from Perth has won 5 titles and, on this day, they lifted the title for the second time in 2015. It was a comprehensive campaign for Perth and they capped it off with a thrilling win against Sydney Sixers

First Innings

Moises Henriques won the toss for Sydney Sixers and opted to bat first. However, that decision did not pay off in the initial overs as Perth Scorchers made some early inroads with four wickets in the first 10 overs. Sydney could only manage to add around 50 runs in the first half of the innings.

But from there Sydney Sixers made a resilient comeback courtesy of a captain’s knock from Moises Henriques. The all-rounder smashed 77 runs off 57 balls and his partnership with Ryan Carters propelled Sydney to a total of around 150. The side batting first ended up with 147 runs which gave them room to fight and put Perth Scorcher under pressure and test their mettle.

Second Innings

Perth Scorchers had a good start to the match but by the end of the first innings Sydney Sixers had brought themselves back into the game. The chasing side started their chase on a great note with Shaun Marsh and Michel Klinger adding 70 runs for the first wicket. Marsh took the initiative of taking on the bowlers and found some success. Even after Klinger’s dismissal Shaun Marsh continued in the same way.

Sydney Sixers tried very hard to defend the target and took the match to the very last ball. But Perth Scorchers were determined to negotiate any hurdle in their way and grab the title. Scorchers completed the chase on the very last ball to win the all-important final and clinch the Big Bash League for the second time. Shaun Marsh was awarded the Player of the Match for his explosive batting stint.
