On this day Ishan Kishan scored a double century and became the 4th Indian to do so. He played an extraordinary knock and dismantled the Bangladesh bowling attack with his fireworks all around the park. Ishan’s double century helped India trample Bangladesh in the 3rd and last match of the ODI series at Chattogram.

Merciless Onslaught from Ishan Kishan

The coin fell in Bangladesh’s favor and they opted to field. Bangladesh even got off to a good start with an early dismissal of Shikhar Dhawan but had no idea of what was coming from Ishan Kishan. After an early blow, Ishan and Virat Kohli built a strong partnership to compensate for an early loss of wicket. The young left-hander took the initiative of attacking the Bangladesh bowlers and put them under pressure.

At no point in the first innings, as long as he was on the crease, did Ishan Kishan slow down the momentum. He was determined to put his wicket at risk in order to put the opposition bowlers under the hammer. The wicketkeeper-batsman completed his double-century in just 126 deliveries and scored the fastest double ton in the history of ODI cricket. He lost his wicket in the 36th over but had already done all the damage. Eventually, India crossed the 400-run mark and posted 409 runs on the board in the first innings.

Absolute Domination in the Second Innings

Bangladesh had a humongous target to chase, it was going to be a bumpy ride for them. To chase such a huge total a solid and quick start is mandatory but Indian bowlers got early breakthroughs. Shardul Thakur ended up as the leading wicket-taker with 3 scalps to his name. He was ably complemented by Umran Malik and Axar Patel, both of whom took a couple of wickets each. India won the match with a lot of ease and handed a heavy defeat to Bangladesh by a gigantic margin of 227 runs.

It was a no-brainer for Ishan Kishan to be awarded as the player of the match for his marvelous quickfire double century.
