In this article, we will discuss the OTD Former West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard was born in 1987. On this day, back in 1987, West Indies star cricketer Kieron Pollard was born. Notably, the star cricketer has been playing for a plethora of franchises, as well as captaining MI Emirates and MI New York in the ILT20 and MLC leagues. However, Pollard is currently serving as the batting coach of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024. He is known as one of the most aggressive batters and has a record of hitting six sixes in an over against the Sri Lankan side.

Pollard was born in Trinidad into one of the poorest families. Notably, he represented Trinidad and Tobago in the 2005 TCL Group West Indies Under-19 Challenge, where he got the chance to play against Pakistan in the ODI series. He made two back-to-back half-centuries for his side in both of the ODIs, which helped him make his place in the U-19 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Pollard was named the skipper of the Windies in the white ball of the game in September 2019. In addition, he became the first cricketer to play 500 T20 matches in March 2020. He is known as one of the greatest players in limited overs; however, he has never played Test cricket for his national side. He hits six sixes in one over against Sri Lanka, which was bowled by Akila Dananjaya in March 2021, and becomes the third batter to do so in international cricket after Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh.

Pollard has declared his retirement from international cricket on April 20, 2022. In addition, he further announced his retirement from the IPL after playing for the Mumbai Indians for 13 years, and he is being appointed as the coach, but the Mumbai Indians have already been ruled out from the playoff race in the current season. Meanwhile, he is appointed as the assistant coach of the England cricket team for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is slated to take place on June 2 in the West Indies and USA, as the Jos Buttler-led English camp aims to defend their title.
