Mumbai Indians won their 8th match in IPL 2023 after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last league stage encounter on Sunday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

They have given themselves the best chance to qualify for the playoffs, however, they still want Gujarat Titans to beat RCB in the second game, today.

Sunrisers Hyderabad batted exceedingly well to post a mammoth score of 200 runs on the board in the first innings. Vivrant Sharma and Abhishek Sharma stitched an outstanding partnership of 140 runs on the board for the opening wicket.

Vivrant Sharma scored his maiden half-century in IPL, scoring 69 runs in 47 balls, while Mayank Agarwal finished the season on a high as he too played a valuable knock of 83 off 46 balls. H Klaasen was sent up the order at number three but he made 18 off 13 deliveries, while Markam played an unbeaten cameo of 13 off 7 balls.

For Mumbai Indians, the bowling, once again, disappointed one and all but it was Akash Madhwal, who was the standout performer with the bat. He returned with figures of 4 for 37 in 4 overs.

In reply, Mumbai Indians lost Ishan Kishan in the third over and Rohit Sharma looked scratchy in the powerplay. However, the decision to send C Green at number three paid dividends as he raced away to 30 off just 10 balls, helping MI finish the powerplay on 60 for the loss of Kishan.

Rohit Sharma changed gears after that and found his touch. He played a good knock of 56 off 37 but it was Cameron Green, who stole the show with his masterclass knock of 100 off just 47 deliveries, a knock which had 8 fours and the same number of sixes.

Suryakumar Yadav also gave him handy support of 25 off 16, helping Mumbai Indians chase down the target in just 18 overs.
