Cricket Highlights, June 18: MLC 2025 (9th Match) – SEO vs MI NY

SEO vs MI NY (9th Match) – Highlights

Under the Oakland lights, MI New York turned a high-voltage chase into a casual evening stroll, flattening 201 like it was backyard cricket. It was a match brimming with high-octane batting, explosive power-hitting, and one standout performance that sealed the fate of the game.

Batting first after losing the toss, Seattle Orcas put up a formidable total of 200 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings began with some hiccups as David Warner fell cheaply, trapped LBW by Michael Bracewell for just 4 runs. Aaron Jones too couldn’t find fluency and was dismissed for 10, leaving Seattle struggling at 30 for 2.

However, the innings came alive thanks to a blistering knock from Kyle Mayers. The left-hander launched an assault on the MI New York bowlers, hammering 88 off just 46 balls, including a staggering 10 sixes. He found solid support from wicketkeeper Shayan Jahangir, who scored 43 off 34 balls and held the innings together through the middle overs. As the game approached the death, Heinrich Klaasen played a captain’s cameo, blasting 27 off just 11 balls, while Shimron Hetmyer contributed a quick-fire 21 from nine deliveries. Their efforts propelled the Orcas to the 200-run mark.

The Orcas served a feast with the bat, but their bowlers brought plastic cutlery to a knife fight. Naveen-ul-Haq leaked 64 runs in his four overs, while Obed McCoy and Harmeet Singh went for over 12 and 15 runs per over respectively. Only Michael Bracewell managed to keep things tight with figures of 1 for 20 from his four overs, and Trent Boult bowled a tidy spell, conceding just 29 for one wicket.

In reply, MI New York’s run chase was headlined by the brilliance of Monank Patel. Opening the innings, Patel played an exceptional knock, smashing 93 off 50 deliveries. He took the attack to every bowler, peppering the boundary with eight fours and seven sixes. His partnership with Michael Bracewell, who stayed unbeaten on 50 from 35 balls, laid the foundation for the successful chase. After Patel was dismissed in the 16th over, skipper Nicholas Pooran departed soon after, but it was too little too late for Seattle.

Kieron Pollard ensured there were no late surprises as he finished the game in style with a blazing 26 not out from just 10 balls. MI New York chased down the target in just 19 overs, finishing on 203 for 3.

In a game where bowlers were window dressing, Raza kicked the door down with figures of 2 for 37. The rest of the bowling unit lacked penetration and control, allowing MI New York batters to dictate terms throughout the innings.
