There has been a total of 36 completed Test series between England and India so far. Both nations have played quite competitively over the past, which is also why this particular series is one of the most hyped ones.
However, there have also been a few cases where both the sides have recorded one-sided victories. Occurrences such as those have also come true when the teams have attained wins by a massive margin in terms of the opposition falling well short of the target.
1) India won by 434 runs

More than 50% of India’s first innings total of 445 came from scores from Rohit Sharma (131 off 196) and Ravindra Jadeja (112 off 225). Test debutants, Sarfaraz Khan (62 off 66) and Dhruv Jurel (46 off 104), were impressive too. Mark Wood conceded more than 100 runs, but ended up securing four wickets.
Ben Duckett, in particular, started off the English innings quite well while scoring at a brisk rate. There was a meltdown of the middle-order after the left-handed batter was dismissed after scoring 153 off 151 deliveries. England were eventually bowled out for 319. No other batter from the team even got to fifty. Mohammed Siraj secured a four-fer.
An unbeaten double-ton by Yashasvi Jaiswal (214* off 236), his second of the series was the highlight of India’s second innings. Shubman Gill (91 off 151) missed out on his hundred by just nine runs while Sarfaraz (68* off 72) posted another half-century. The spin trio of Joe Root, Tom Hartley, and Rehan Ahmed shared three wickets among themselves.
The visitors were bowled out for a meagre 122 while chasing 557 for victory. Wood contributed with 33 off 15 lower down the order. Jadeja secured a five-wicket haul. He was also awarded the Player of the Match award for his all-round display.
2) England won by 319 runs

India did brilliantly well to reduce England to 88/6 by the end of the 40th over after opting to field first. Stuart Broad (64 off 66) and Graeme Swann (28 off 35) combined together to put on 73 runs. Nine of England’s 10 wickets were shared by the pacers; Praveen Kumar (3/45 in 22 overs), Ishant Sharma (3/66 in 22 overs), and Sreesanth (3/77 in 19 overs).
India led by a significant margin with the help of ton by Rahul Dravid (117 off 235), his third as a Test opener. This came in addition to half-centuries from VVS Laxman (54 off 112) and Yuvraj Singh (62 off 115). India were all-out for 288. Stuart Broad (6/46 in 24.1 overs) was the standout performer with the ball. His spell included a memorable hat-trick.
Ian Bell top-scored with 159 with the help of 24 fours. There were four other half-centurions from the English lineup in addition to Broad who had scored a 32-ball 44. Praveen bowled 36 overs and picked up four wickets.
India were dismantled for only 158 while chasing 478. Sachin Tendulkar, who had scored 56 off 86, was the player from the visitors’ end who had scored a double-digit score from India’s top seven batters. Harbhajan Singh (46 off 44) and Praveen (25 off 25) were the other contributors. Tim Bresnan, who was coming on the back off a 90 off 118, picked up a five-wicket haul in the final innings.
3) India won by 317 runs

Rohit Sharma scored161 off 231 in India’s first innings. Ajinkya Rahane (67 off 149) and Rishabh Pant’s (58* off 77) knocks contributed crucial runs too even as Moeen Ali picked up four wickets in the 29 overs he bowled.
Wicketkeeper-batter Ben Foakes (42* off 107), emerged as the top-scorer for the away side. Ravichandran Ashwin (5/43 in 23.5 overs) combined with Axar Patel, who picked up a couple of wickets, (2/40 in 20 overs), to crush the English batting unit. The third innings saw an early start with not even two full days having been completed in the game.
India were struggling at 106/6 in their second innings as Virat Kohli scored 62 off 149. However, the real saviour was Ravichandran Ashwin, who scored his fifth Test ton (106 off 148). Jack Leach (4/100 in 33 overs) and Moeen (4/98 in 32 overs) starred with the ball.
England could only manage 164. Coming in extremely low down the order at No. 9, Moeen played an entertaining cameo of 43 off 18. Many of the English batters like Rory Burns (25 off 42), Dan Lawrence (26 off 53), and Root (33 off 92) got starts. However, none of them could captilise as Axar got his five-wicket haul. Ashwin was awarded the POTM award for his all-round display on his home ground.
