In the 2023 Asian Games, T20 cricket is among the featured sports, running from September 28 to October 7. Pakistan will be represented by Pakistan Shaheens, their A team. A significant milestone in his career, 20-year-old all-rounder Qasim Akram has been appointed as the team’s captain. With 20 first-class matches and 40 T20 appearances, Qasim showcased his leadership abilities when he led Pakistan in the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2022.
The Pakistan team also has a good mixture of experience as well as youngsters in their squad. Hence it will be interesting to see how the mmix performs when put together. Let us look at three players to watch out for in Pakistan’s squad for the Asian games:
#3. Haider Ali

Haider Ali is one such youngster who has shown a lot of confidence in his initial days. The 22-year-old has played 33 T20Is for the Pakistan team and have scored 499 runs. Whereas in the 114 T20Is that the right-hand batter has played overall, the prolific batter has scored 2266 runs with the highest score of 91 and a strike rate of 134.
#2. Khushdil Shah

Khushdil Shah is a dynamic left-handed middle-order batsman renowned for his power-hitting in Pakistan’s domestic cricket and the PSL with Peshawar Zalmi. Unlike traditional left-handers, he relies on strength rather than finesse, excelling on the leg side. While he isn’t flawless against pace, he thrives against spinners, often targeting the long-on to square leg arc. With consistent performances in List A and T20 cricket since his 2016 debut, he earned a spot in Pakistan’s T20I squad for the 2019 Australia tour, showing promise in the shortest format.
#1. Mohammad Hasnain

Mohammad Hasnain, arguably Pakistan’s fastest bowler, made his domestic debut in 2018. Renowned for his high-150s KPH pace and prodigious swing, he was fast-tracked into Pakistan’s 2019 World Cup squad despite limited ODIs. Although he didn’t play, his selection showcased the selectors’ faith. Hasnain, still raw, can be expensive on off-days but offers a pitch-neutralizing pace advantage, especially on flat tracks. With PSL and CPL contracts before his teens, he’s a promising talent, and the 2019-2020 season is critical for his development on the international stage. Born in Hyderabad, Pakistan, he’s a prized asset.
