Royal Challengers Bangalore could not qualify for the playoffs in the last season, and they would be looking to take corrective measures in order to make sure that they are not left behind in a cut-throat IPL season. The retention day is coming up, and RCB would have to let go of a few players. Let’s take a look at 3 players that they can release ahead of retention day.
#1. Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik had a wonderful 2022 season which helped him make the cut for the Indian squad, too. But the wicketkeeper-batsman had a forgettable 2023 season. In 13 matches he could only score 140 runs. With Karthik not playing regular cricket, it is wise for Royal Challengers Bangalore to look for a young wicketkeeper-batsman or give time to Anuj Rawat who can take his place in the same role. RCB can no longer afford to depend only on Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis and they must nurture players who can contribute on equal footing.
#2. Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav is likely to be released as he has not been in the best of form. Last season he only played a couple of games for RCB and the management would be eager to find another prospect who could contribute in the middle order. Jadhav has not been clicking in the IPL for the past two or three seasons; hence, it is not worth sticking with him and keeping him in the plans. Instead, it is better to bring a young face who can lower the pressure from Virat and Faf Du Plessis in the batting order.
#3. Siddharth Kaul

Siddharth Kaul has been part of IPL-winning teams and the fast bowler has had a good IPL career. But the bowler from Punjab is long past his peak. He did not get the chance to play a single match in the 2023 season which shows that he is nowhere near the plans of the management. The management would be looking to bring a young pacer to create a group of fast bowlers who can carry the franchise in the future.
