Younis Khan resigns as Pakistan cricket team’s batting coach

Younis Khan is to work with the batsmen of the Pakistan cricket team until the 2022 T20 World Cup under a two-year contract. But within 7 months of taking the charge, the legendary batsman resigned as the batting coach of the Pakistan cricket team.

A statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that the two-year contract was terminated in seven months based on an agreement reached between the two parties.

Wasim Khan, PCB chief executive said, “It is sad for us to lose an experienced and skilled coach like Younis Khan. We have come to the conclusion on the basis of mutual agreement that we should now take a different path.”

Thanking Younis Khan, Wasim added, “I am grateful to Younis Khan for this short service to the Pakistan national cricket team. Hopefully, he will always be ready to share his knowledge among the emerging cricketers of Pakistan.”

Younis Khan has not yet commented on leaving the Pakistan cricket team. The PCB did not mention any other reason behind this.

With Younis Khan stepping down, Pakistan will now have to travel to England without a batting coach. However, PCB is hopeful of finding a replacement for Younis Khan before the tour of the West Indies.

Pakistan’s tour of England will be from June 25 to July 20. Where they will play three ODIs and 3 T20Is. Pakistan will then play 5 Twenty20 and two Tests in the Caribbean from July 21 to August 24.
