Will Shah Rukh Khan buy a team in the South African league?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) teams will play in South Africa’s T20 league. This T20 League of South Africa will start with a total of six teams. However, the ownership of all six teams remains in the hands of the owners of the IPL teams. The matter has been confirmed by the South African Cricket Board.

The Newlands City team in Cape Town has been bought by the owners of Mumbai Indians. Owners of Lucknow Super Giants have bought Durbar’s Kingsland team. The owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad bought the St George’s Park team. The owner of Rajasthan Royals bought the team from Boland Park in Pearl. The owner of Delhi Capitals bought the team from Pretorius Supersports Park.

Six franchise teams of IPL have bought teams in the South African league but Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan has yet to buy any team. Since then, the king of Bollywood has been at the centre of discussion. Will he not buy a team in the South African league?

In 2017, the Red Chillies bought the Cape Town team. Now it has been bought by the owner of Mumbai. Apart from India, Shah Rukh Khan also bought a team in the Caribbean League. So many are surprised that King Khan has not bought a team in the African League so far. Cricket analysts believe that Shah Rukh’s team will eventually be in the African league.

Graeme Smith, the head of this T20 league in South Africa, told the media, ”This league will be held in January and February 2023. We welcome six new teams. It’s a great time for cricket in South Africa. This league proves that South Africa is still important in the world of cricket.”

Smith also said, ”Those who own the teams have experience of running teams in the T20 league. That experience will be very useful in our league.” Note that to ensure the participation of South African cricketers in this T20 league, the country’s cricket board cancelled the tour of Australia at that time.
