Match 20 of the Women’s Premier League 2025between Mumbai Indians Women and Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women was won by the latter by 11 runs. This was the final group-stage game of the ongoing season.

Playing just her second game of WPL 2025, Sabbhineni Meghana kicked off with a fiery burst. However, her innings was cut short in the fourth over of the first innings. The final two overs of the powerplay were rather mellow ones. Bengaluru ended up on 53/1 after six overs. After a poor string of games, skipper Smriti Mandhana finally came good. She got to her half-century on the final delivery of the 11th over of the innings. After her dismissal, Richa Ghosh joined Ellyse Perry to pile on the runs.

The wicketkeeper-batter was the aggressor of the two. After taking 15 off Shabnim Ismail’s over, Ghosh departed for a lively 36-run knock in the subsequent over. Amanjot Kaur, who had conceded only nine off three overs, was taken to the cleaners by Georgia Wareham. Bengaluru ended the innings on 199/3. Ellyse Perry fell one short of her fifty. Wareham’s 31* off 10 deliveries (strike rate of 310) was the highest for any batter (minimum 10 deliveries faced) in the history of the WPL.

The off-spin of Sneh Rana was brought on in the fourth over itself. She struck on her third delivery, dismissing Hayley Matthews. She conceded only two in her first over. While a change of ends did not quite work for Perry, Rana landed another blow, this time dismissing Amelia Kerr. A quiet over by Wareham was enough for Harmanpreet Kaur to succumb in the following over. The required run rate had touched 13 by the end of the 11th over of the run-chase.

After a couple of 30s in the past matches, Nat Sciver-Brunt finally came to the fore and substantiated her start to something big. She got to her fourth fifty this season in Rana’s third over. The English all-rounder’s valiant 69-run knock came to an end after she misread an off-cutter by Perry to loop the ball straight back to her. Yastika Bhatia, Amanjot, and G Kamalini, and Sanskriti Gupta all departed in successive overs. A late surge by Sajeevan Sajana provided some thrill in the game. However, it was not to be for the home side.
