Shoaib Akhtar threatened to kill Brett Lee!

Although there is friendship outside the field, Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar and Australian pacer Brett Lee were two rivals in the field. Both of them have conquered the entire cricket world with the ball. There was a clash between the two in the fight for the speed of the ball. There was a strong tendency to surpass each other.

Shoaib Akhtar is a fearsome name for opponents. He used to shake the minds of the batters with his bowling variety. But it is surprising to hear that Pakistani pacer Shoaib once threatened to kill Brett Lee! Brett Lee himself said that Shoaib threatened Brett Lee during the match.

Brett Lee recalled a match 22 years ago on his YouTube channel, “A match in 2000 between Australia and Pakistan. It was being played at Dhaka Stadium. There was grass on the wicket. I couldn’t see Akhtar’s ball. After I came down to bat, Akhtar came to me and said, ” I will kill you. I was shaking with fear.”

In that match in 2000, the ball hit Lee’s feet while Shoaib bowled. But the umpire did not give out. Joking about it, Brett Lee said, “After hitting the ball, I knew I was out. But the umpire didn’t give it out. I got more scared. But Akhtar bowled again. I got bowled this time. I’ve never been so happy to get out.”

Brett Lee also said, “We are contemporaries. He wanted Pakistan to win. I wanted Australia to win. Both of us wanted to bowl as fast as possible. Pakistan-Australia matches took a different dimension then. Nobody wanted to give an inch to anyone. But off the field, we were very good friends.”

It should be noted that Shoaib Akhtar has written his name in cricket history as the fastest bowler in the world, which no one has been able to break till now. He set this record against England in the 2003 World Cup by bowling at a speed of 161.3 km per hour, which is still intact.
