Shakib faced punishment in BPL

বিপিএলে শাস্তির মুখে পড়লেন সাকিবরা

Ever since the ninth season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) started, one controversy after another has been created. Field and outside the field of this debate should not end! Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Fortune Barisal, seems to be in the middle of the controversy. This time he got involved in a verbal argument with the umpire, and he had to be punished. Of course, Shakib is not banned from the game but fined.

Shakib’s team will face Rangpur Riders at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday. The problem happened in that match. In the second innings of the match when Barisal started to bat with the target of 159 runs, the unexpected happened. Enamul Haque Vijay and Chaturanga de Silva came to the crease with a right-handed-left-handed combination. Meanwhile, Sheikh Mahadi Hasan of Rangpur came to bowl.

Vijay came to take the strike off offspinner Mahadi. Rangpur captain Nurul Hasan Sohan resorted to some cleverness after seeing the matter. Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan brought in the attack. Meanwhile, when Vijay again wanted to change the strike and give it to Silva, the umpire objected to it. Shakib objected from the dressing room. At one point, he entered the field and got involved in an argument. The matter became the talk of the country. The discussion in the cricket neighbourhood caused a storm of criticism.

That’s why the match referee Akhtar Ahmed fined him 15 per cent of the match fee at the end of the match. Of course, not only Shakib but two other cricketers have been fined. Sohan was fined in the incident of changing the bowler. On the other hand, the reason for penalizing Vijay is that the batsman got into an argument with the umpire after being dismissed leg before.

However, after the match, Sohan and Barisal’s Mehdi Hasan Miraj admitted that the matter was due to a misunderstanding. However, their complaint is that the umpire did not inform them about the rules. Otherwise, these events would not have happened. But whatever was said after the match, at the end of the day, all three cricketers had to pay a 15 per cent fine. However, Shakib did not open his mouth about this incident.
