Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers met in the 16th match of BBL 2022/23 yesterday (Monday). Adelaide Strikers came down to bat first in that match and set a target in the scheduled 20 overs. But in the 2nd innings, Perth Scorchers reached the target before the scheduled 20 overs were completed. Along with winning this match, Perth Scorchers are in the 2nd place in the points table and Adelaide Strikers are in the 1st place after losing the match. Besides, Ashton Turner won the man-of-the-match title for Perth Scorchers due to his excellent batting. 

Adelaide Strikers won the toss and elected to bat first and invited Perth Scorchers to bowl. Batting first, the Adelaide strikers did not start well. Henry Hunt left the field after hitting a golden duck on the 3rd ball of the 1st over. After that, Chris Lynn and Matthew Short managed a bit, but their 2nd wicket fell at the team’s 40 runs. Matthew Short was bowled out after scoring only 16 runs off 26 balls. Since then, their wickets have been falling at regular intervals. Chris Lynn, who scored the most runs for them, left the field after being run out in the 12th over. He scored 35 runs off 34 balls with the help of 4 fours. No one else could score 20 runs except him. Adam Hose returned to the pavilion with 18 runs from 14 balls, and Thomas Kelly scored 18 runs from 15 balls with 1 four and 1 six. Colin de Grandhomme scored 19 runs off 16 balls with 2 fours. Ben Manenti scored 4 runs off 6 balls. Besides, Harry Nielsen was unbeaten on 11 runs off 8 balls. In the end, the innings of Adelaide Strikers stopped at 133 runs after losing 7 wickets with 12 extra runs.

Andrew Tye took 3 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs for Perth Scorchers. Besides Ashton Agar and Jason Behrendorf took 1 wicket each.

Perth Scorchers went down to bat with a target of 134 runs and lost 7 wickets with 5 balls in hand they reached the port of victory. They did not start well when they came to bat. The team lost 3 wickets for 17 runs. Faf du Plessis who scored 6 runs in 4 balls left the field first. Adam Lyth returned to the dressing room after scoring 4 runs off 4 balls. Nick Hobson scored 4 runs. After that, Josh Inglis and Aaron Hardie took the lead of the game but Josh Inglis left the field in the last ball of the 5th over. He scored 19 runs off 12 balls with the help of 3 fours and 1 six before getting out. Aaron Hardie got bowled out after 3 overs and scored 22 runs from 17 balls with the help of 2 fours. Ashton Agar scored 6 runs off 7 balls. Jhye Richardson scored only 18 runs from 27 balls. Besides, their captain Ashton Turner was unbeaten on 48 runs from 38 balls. He also hit 3 fours and 2 sixes. Andrew Tye was unbeaten on 5 runs off 2 balls. In the end, they left the field with a victory of 136 runs including 4 runs extra.

Matthew Short and Henry Thornton took 2 wickets each for Adelaide Strikers. Rashid Khan, Ben Manenti, and Colin de Grandhomme took 1 wicket each.
