PAK vs AFG (Super Four, Match 4) – Highlights

Pakistan and Afghanistan faced each other in the Super Four match on Wednesday. Pakistan entered the final with a dramatic 1-wicket victory. So Afghanistan and India have been eliminated from the Asia Cup T20, and Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play in the final.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium witnessed one of the best games in history. Lower-order batsman Nasim Shah gave Pakistan an incredible win by hitting 2 consecutive sixes in the last over in a tight fight.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited the Afghans to bat in this crucial match of the Asia Cup in Sharjah. Batting First, Afghanistan’s innings were stopped at just 129 runs for 6 wickets by the Pakistani bowlers.

However, despite losing the toss, Afghanistan made a great start in batting. Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz made an opening partnership of 43 runs off 29 balls.

In the fourth over of the innings, Zazai was caught out by Haris Rauf after hitting two consecutive boundaries. But Nasim Shah dropped that easy catch. However, Pakistan did not have to wait long for wickets. One ball later, Rauf bowled out Gurbaz (17 off 11 balls 2 sixes) in a brilliant delivery. In the next over, Hasnain bowled Zazai (21 off 17 balls).

After that, Afghanistan’s run rate decreased. Janat was caught out by Mohammad Nawaz for just 15 runs off 19 balls. Najibullah (11 off 10) was caught at long-on while hitting a six off the last ball of the 14th over.

The Afghans lost another wicket on the first ball of the next over. Skipper Mohammad Nabi was dismissed by Nasim Shah’s brilliant delivery, he made a golden duck. Ibrahim Zadran (35 off 37 balls) was playing slowly. Haris Rauf picked him up in the 17th over. In the end, Afghanistan reached 129 runs in Rashid Khan’s 15-ball 18 and Omarzai’s 10-ball 10-run innings.

Haris Rauf was the most successful Pakistani bowler. This pacer took 2 wickets with 26 runs in 4 overs. Another pacer Nasim Shah took a wicket for just 19 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Mohammad Hasnain, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Nawaz took 1 wicket each.

The target was only 130 runs. However, Pakistan lost a couple of players initially and was under domination. Babar Azam (0) and Fakhr Zaman (5) returned to the dressing room within 18 runs of the team. Then Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed made a slow partnership of 27 runs off 33 balls. In the eighth over of the innings, Rizwan (26 balls 20) was trapped in lbw by Rashid Khan and broke the pair.

Iftikhar was playing very cautiously. This right-handed batsman was the victim of Farid Ahmed after scoring 30 runs off 33 balls. Pakistan then needed 43 from 27 balls. So the Afghan bowlers had come out strong and Shadab (36 off 26) was caught in the 2nd ball of the 17th over.

Pakistan’s run was 105 for 5 at the end of 17 overs in a tense match. 25 from 18 balls were needed for victory. With enough wickets in hand, the game was on the side of Pakistan.

But then came the drama. Mohammad Nawaz (4) and Khushdil Shah (1) were picked up by Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqui for just 4 runs in the 18th over.

In the next over, Asif Ali scored 10 runs with a six, but Pakistan lost two more wickets, Haris Rauf 0 and Asif caught out for 16 off 8 balls, Pakistan almost got knocked out of the match.

At last 11 were needed in the last over. But with just 1 wicket in hand and there was no recognized batsman. Can Nasim Shah and Mohammad Hasnain win the match in the lower order? Surely they also did not believe in themselves.

But Nasim Shah did the impossible. This lower order gave Pakistan an incredible victory by hitting two sixes in the first two balls of the last over.
