Veteran pace bowling all-rounder Jason Holder has been named in the West Indies squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 to replace injured left-arm pacer, Obed McCoy.
McCoy played the first Super 12 match for the Caribbean against England. But he has now been ruled out of the rest of the tournament due to a right shin injury. The ICC has approved the inclusion of former captain Holder in the Caribbean World Cup squad to replace McCoy. However, he was already in the UAE with the team as a travelling reserve.
Jason Holder can be seen in the game against Bangladesh on this Friday. Cricket West Indies chief selector Roger Harper said that Jason Holder was already in the UAE. So it would not be a problem for him to adapt to the team. About Holder, Harper further added that he is an experienced and intelligent cricketer, and will be looking forward to seizing this opportunity.
Praising McCoy, he commented that McCoy had done really well in the T20 cricket earlier this year and also did well in the opening match against England. For the Windies, McCoy was an important member of the bowling unit and it is unfortunate that he has been dropped out of the tournament. The team hopes that he can recover quickly and returns to the field in the near future.

On the other hand, Bangladesh also lost two matches in Super 12.
