In the 58th match of IPL 2022 on Wednesday, Delhi Capitals (DC) have won by 8 wickets with 11 balls to spare against Rajasthan Royals (RR) by the all-round performance of Mitchell Marsh at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. DC has still kept alive the hopes of play-off by winning this match.

After winning the toss, DC captain Rishabh Pant decided to field and sent RR to bat first. RR lost Jos Buttler (7 off 11 balls) earlier at the start of the innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal also did not play exactly like a T20 game making 19 runs from 19 balls.

However, Ravichandran Ashwin is getting a lot of success as a batsman and playing in the top order. The veteran star is also repaying this trust of the management. However, he went down to number three and picked up an excellent half-century. With 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, an innings of 50 off 38 balls came out of his willow. Ashwin helped the team score exceeding hundred.

But Captain Sanju Samson (6) and Riyan Parag (9) could not take any advantage. Devdutt Padikkal was playing at one end. This excellent batter came to the doorstep of the half-century and got back to the dressing room.

In the 19th over, Devdutt returned to the pavilion with a great catch of substitute fielder Nagarkoti at the deep point while trying to play a lofted shot off Anrich Nortje. The left-arm batsman played an innings of 48 off 30 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

In the end, RR lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and collected 160 runs. For DC, left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya took the maximum number of 2 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs. Mitchell Marsh and Anrich Nortje also took two wickets each.

The DC batsmen did not get off to a good start after coming down to chase the challenging target of 161 runs. Opener Srikar Bharat returned to the dressing room with zero runs. But in the 2nd wicket, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh’s impeccable partnership brought DC back into the match. Together they made an unbeaten pair of 144 off 101 balls.

RR dropped out of the match due to their great partnership. Marsh returned to the pavilion after playing a match-winning innings of 89 off 62 balls with 5 fours and 7 sixes. After his departure, captain Rishabh Pant came to the wicket. In the end, DC lost only 2 wickets and reached the port of victory in 18.1 overs.

Warner left the field after confirming the team’s victory in a relatively slow innings. For DC, the opener is unbeaten on 52 off 41 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. On the other end of the wicket, Pant remained unbeaten after playing a stormy innings of 13 runs off 4 balls. Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal took one wicket each for RR.

Delhi Capitals have got up to the 5th place of the point table with 6 wins and 7 losses of 12 points in 12 matches. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals are still in 3rd position with 14 points from 7 wins and 5 losses in 12 matches.
