How Bangladesh cricket passed the year 2022

যেমন কাটলো বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেটের ২০২২ সাল

The year 2022 is disappearing in the womb of the universe. The year 2023 is knocking at the door with new possibilities. How was the performance of Team Bangladesh in the calculation? Now let’s take a look at how the year 2022 of Bangladesh cricket went.

The year 2022 of Bangladesh cricket has been full of ups and downs. Among the three formats of cricket, the ODI version has fared better. After defeating South Africa and West Indies at home, the Tigers have lost a series against superpowers like India towards the end of the year.

The Tigers had a good start to 2022. The year began with a win over New Zealand in Test cricket. But later the series was drawn 1-1. After that, the Tigers gave only disappointment to the visitors. 2 – 0 against South Africa, 1 – 0 against Sri Lanka and 2 – 0 against West Indies disappointed the visitors. Bangladesh could not end the year like the beginning of the year. Despite winning the ODI series at home against India, they were whitewashed in the Tests.

However, in ODI cricket in 2022, the Tigers have recognized their race. From the beginning to the end, the audience was gifted with victory. Bangladesh got off to a great start by winning the series 2-1 at home against Afghanistan. Bangladesh then defeated the hosts in South Africa in March to win the series 2-1. The Tigers also won the series 3-0 at home against the West Indies in July. And against Zimbabwe in July-August

Bangladesh won the series 2-1 in their field. The end of the year is spent very well by the Tiger Army. They won the ODI series by defeating superpowers like India by 2-1 on their ground.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh could not give anything good in T20 cricket like the Tests. Bangladesh started the year with a 1-1 draw against Afghanistan. This was followed by a 2-0 series defeat at home against the West Indies in July. Then they lost the series against Zimbabwe by a 2-1 margin.

Bangladesh was also disappointed in the Asia Cup in Dubai in August and September. They were eliminated from the group stage after losing against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh did not get anything in T20 World Cup against Australia. Despite wins against the Netherlands and Zimbabwe, losses against India, Pakistan and South Africa have left them well behind in the points table.

Tigers batsman Liton Das has had a good time between the ups and downs. Lytton is the highest run scorer in 2022. 1921 runs came from his bat. He is ahead in all three formats of cricket. In the 2022 Test, he collected 800 runs in 18 innings in 10 matches. Average 44, strike rate 43.

In ODI too, the maximum runs came from Lytton’s bat. He scored 577 runs in 13 ODIs. Average 77 and strike rate 83. The highest runs from his bat in the T20 format too. He scored 544 runs in 19 matches. Average 29 and strike rate 140.

Meanwhile, Mehdi Hasan Miraj took the highest wicket among the Tigers in 2022. He has taken 59 wickets in 29 matches across all formats. He scored 1030 runs off 2061 balls. He took 1 wicket every 33 balls. Team Bangladesh is hopeful of doing well in 2023.
