Gujarat Titans (GT) has clinched a 7-wicket victory with 5 balls in hand over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 62nd match of IPL 2022 on Sunday at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium courtesy of Wriddhiman Saha’s superb innings. At the same time, GT has kept its place in the 1st position on the points table.

After winning the toss, CSK captain MS Dhoni decided to bat and sent GT to bowl first. After batting, CSK was able to collect only 133 runs in front of the controlled bowling of GT’s bowlers. However, they still had 5 wickets left.

In the first four overs and the last five overs of the innings, CSK could not hit any boundary in these 9 overs. CSK failed to hit a boundary in the four overs of Powerplay’s six overs. They lost one wicket in those four overs and collected only 15 runs, they started to fall behind at the start. However, they started the counterattack with 32 runs in the remaining two overs of Powerplay.

CSK lost 1 wicket at the end of 6 overs of Power Play and picked up 48 runs. At the end of 15 overs, the team scored 109 runs for 2 wickets. But in the last 5 overs, the aggressive bowling of GT’s bowlers slowed down CSK’s run rate again.

Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has fought alone against the GT’s bowlers. Although he played 49 balls and scored 53 runs. He had smashed only 1 six with 4 boundaries in his innings. Narayan Jagadeesan played 33 balls and scored 39 runs. Moeen Ali was dismissed for 21 off 17 balls. None of the other batsmen could make a double-digit score. Playing 10 balls, Dhoni could make only 7 runs.

Mohammed Shami took the maximum number of 2 wickets for GT with only 19 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, and Sai Kishore took 1 wicket each.

Chasing an easy target of 134 runs, GT lost only 3 wickets in 19.1 overs and reached the port of victory. GT reached the target on the basis of Wriddhiman Saha’s patient batting. Wriddhiman scored an unbeaten 67 off 57 balls. He hit 8 boundaries and 1 six.

Another opener Shubaman Gill scored 18 off 17 balls. He hit 3 boundaries in his innings. Matthew Wade was dismissed for 20 off 15 balls. He hit 2 boundaries. Hardik Pandya made 7 runs off 6 balls. David Miller remained unbeaten on 15 off 20 balls. Matheesha Pathirana scalped 2 wickets and Moeen Ali took 1 wicket for CSK.

The Gujarat Titans are still at the top of the points table with 10 wins and 3 losses, they have 20 points against their name after playing 13 matches. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings are still in 9th position getting 8 points from 4 wins and 9 losses in 13 matches.
