The Perth Scorchers have defeated Hobart Hurricanes by 53 runs in the 12th match of BBL 2021/22 at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, courtesy of a remarkable century by Mitchell Marsh. The Scorchers won the toss and elected to bat first, losing 5 wickets in 20 overs, they put on 182 runs on the scoreboard.

For the Scorchers, Mitchell Marsh played a devastating 100-run unbeaten inning off 60 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Laurie Evans also scored 40 off 24 balls, and Nathan Ellis took the most number of 2 wickets for Hurricanes.

Hurricanes were all out for 129 runs in 19 overs after coming down to chase the huge target of 183 runs. With 3 fours and 3 sixes, Ben McDermott played an innings of 41 runs off 29 balls for the Hurricanes. Besides, D’Arcy Short made 31 runs from 29 balls. Tymal Mills took the maximum number of 3 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs for the Scorchers. Ashton Agar and Andrew Tye also took two wickets each.

The Perth Scorchers are at the top of the points table with their third win in a row after winning this match. On the other hand, Hobart Hurricanes dropped to 6th place in the points table.

PAK vs WI (2nd T20I)

Hosts Pakistan has won over the visiting West Indies by 9 runs in the second T20I match of the series at the National Stadium in Karachi on Tuesday. After winning the toss and bat first, Pakistan lost 8 wickets for 172 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

Mohammad Rizwan scored top runs of 38 facing 30 balls for the hosts. Besides, Iftikhar Ahmed (32 off 19 balls) and Shadab Khan (28* off 12 balls) played two effective innings. For West Indies, Odean Smith took the maximum number of 2 wickets, conceding 24 runs in 4 overs.

Coming down to chase the challenging target of 173, the West Indies were bowled out for 163 in the allotted 20 overs by the aggressive bowling of Pakistani bowlers. Opener Brandon King played the highest innings of 67 runs from 43 balls. Romario Shepherd also scored 35, remaining unbeaten and Nicholas Pooran scored 26 runs. Shaheen Afridi took the highest number of 3 wickets for the Men in Greens. Besides, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Haris Rauf took 2 wickets each.

The hosts won and led the three-match series by 2-0. The two teams will face each other at the same venue at the same time in the third match of the series tomorrow.
