The match 42 of the BBL 2021/22 between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers, the 1st day of the 2nd Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh, and the final day of the 4th Test of the Ashes 2021/22 cruised on the field yesterday. 

BBL 2021/22 – Match 42 (Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers)

The Perth Scorchers have defeated the Sydney Sixers by 5 wickets in the 42nd match of the BBL 2021/22 at the C.ex Coffs International Stadium in Coffs Harbour courtesy of Ashton Turner’s great innings. The Sixers bat first after winning the toss and lost 4 wickets in 20 overs, scoring 151 runs.

Daniel Christian played the highest innings of 35 off 20 balls, remaining unbeaten for the Sixers. Wicket-keeper-batsman Josh Philippe also made 32 off 22 balls. Ashton Agar took the maximum number of 2 wickets for the Scorchers, and Peter Hatzoglou and Matthew Kelly also took one wicket each.

The Scorchers chased down the target of 152 runs with 6 balls in hand, losing 5 wickets. Captain Ashton Turner played a devastating inning of 69 off 41 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes for the team. Aaron Hardie also scored 35 off 31 balls. Ben Dwarshuis took the most number of 2 wickets for the Sixers.

After winning this match, Perth Scorchers are at the top of the points table. The Sydney Sixers, on the other hand, are now 3rd place in the points table after losing.

NZ vs BAN (2nd Test – Day 1)

At the end of the first day of the 2nd Test of the series in Christchurch, New Zealand’s host scored 349 runs for losing 1 wicket in 90 overs. Tom Latham (186*) is on the verge of a double century, and his teammate Devon Conway is unbeaten on 99 runs on the other end.

New Zealand openers Tom Latham and Will Young got off to a great start after losing the toss and coming down to bat first. These two made an opening partnership of 148 runs. But Will Young returned to the pavilion after scoring 54 runs after falling victim to fast bowler Shoriful Islam. After that, Kiwi captain Tom Latham picked up his 12th career century off 133 balls with the help of 17 boundaries.

Despite making some promising attempts, the visitors could not pick up any more wickets. Latham and Conway are unbeaten on an unbroken pair of 201 runs at the end of the day. Devon Conway’s century was possible in the last over of the day, but it did not happen. He is unbeaten on 99 playing 148 balls with 10 fours and 1 six. On the other end, Captain Tom Latham is unbeaten on 186 off 278 balls, hitting 28 boundaries.

AUS vs ENG (4th Test – Day 5)

At the end of the fourth day, the England cricket team, which had scored 30 runs without losing a wicket in their second innings, came to the field on the morning of the fifth day with Zak Crawley (22) and Haseeb Hameed (8) at the crease. After coming down to bat for 388 runs, Hameed (9) was the first to return to the dressing room after falling victim to Scott Boland.

However, Zak Crawley played a great inning of 77 runs off 100 balls. However, no one could accompany him. After losing 3 wickets for 96 runs, captain Joe Root and all-rounder Ben Stokes kept the team afloat with 60 off 152 balls.

After Jonny Bairstow and Stokes put on 37 off 99 balls for the fifth wicket partnership after the departure of Root (24), Stokes returned to the pavilion after falling victim to Nathan Lyon for 60 off 123 balls. After losing 5 wickets for 193 runs, England started drawing the match. Bairstow (41) returned to the dressing room as the eighth batsman, and their attempts started to go in vain. That’s when England’s lower order showed incredible batting skills. Jack Leach (26) and Stuart Broad (8*) put on 33 off 52 balls for the ninth wicket partnership.

When Part-time bowler Steven Smith dismissed leach, there were still 12 balls left in the day. England’s pace superstar James Anderson (0* off 6 balls) came to the crease as the 11th batsman. Both of them played 12 balls convincingly. As a result, England got an incredible draw. Although the match got drawn, Usman Khawaja became the Player of the Match by scoring a century in two consecutive innings. In addition, after four matches in the Ashes, Australia is now leading 3-0.
