BBL 2021/22 – Match 3 (Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers)

Melbourne Renegades have clinched a win against Adelaide Strikers by 2 runs in the 3rd match of BBL 2021/22 at Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. Renegades won the toss and elected to bat first, and they lost 9 wickets to collect 153 runs in 20 overs.

For the Renegades, Mackenzie Harvey top-scored with 56 off 46 balls. Sam Harper (33) and James Seymour (23) also played two handy innings. Peter Siddle was the top wicket-taker for the Strikers scalping 3 wickets, and George Garton and Daniel Worrall took 2 wickets each.

Chasing a challenging target of 154 runs, the Strikers lost 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and stopped at 151 runs. Strikers needed 9 runs to win in the last over. But the strikers’ batsmen could not score more than 6 runs in James Pattinson’s decent bowling. As a result, Renegades won by 2 runs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Harry Nielsen scored the highest 30 runs for the team. Matthew Short also scored 29 and Daniel Drew remained unbeaten on 23 runs. Zahir Khan took the maximum number of 3 wickets giving away 24 runs in 4 overs for Renegades. Will Sutherland also took 2 wickets.

After winning this match, Melbourne Renegades is in 3rd place on the points table. On the other hand, Adelaide Strikers are 4th in the points table after losing.

BAN vs PAK (2nd Test – Day 4)

Pakistan cricket team collected 188 runs for the loss of two wickets till the third day, they started their fourth day’s game with Babar Azam (71) and Azhar Ali (52) at the crease. But Azhar (56) returned to the dressing room after falling victim to Ebadot Hossain in the 2nd over of the innings. Shortly afterward, Babar (76) returned to the pavilion after being lbw by Khaled Ahmed.

Then in the 5th wicket, Fawad Alam and Mohammad Rizwan made a partnership of 103 runs. After losing 4 wickets, Pakistan declared their 1st innings scoring 300 runs. Fawad left the field unbeaten on 50 and Rizwan on 53. Taijul Islam took the maximum number of 2 wickets for the hosts, and Ebadot and Khaled took 1 wicket each.

Batting in their 1st innings, Bangladesh ended the fourth day’s play by collecting 76 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 26 overs in the spin magic of Pakistani bowler Sajid Khan. Apart from Najmul Hossain Shanto (30) and Shakib Al Hasan (23*), no other batsman made a double-digit score.

Sajid alone took 6 wickets for Pakistan and the other one has got run out. With Shakib (23*) and Taijul (0*) at the crease and trailing by 224 runs, Bangladesh will take the field on the morning of the fifth day.
