A brilliant all-round performance from Daniel Sams helped Sydney Thunder to get an impressive 11-run win over Brisbane Heat in the 19th match of the BBL 2022/23 at the Metricon Stadium in Queensland. Daniel Sams was adjudged player of the match for his 16-ball innings of 36 remaining unbeaten with the bat and later taking two wickets with the ball.

Brisbane Heat captain Jimmy Peirson won the toss and elected to field first, sending Sydney Thunder to bat first. Sydney Thunder lost 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and collected a big score of 182 runs. In response, Brisbane Heat’s innings was stopped at 171 runs after losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.

However, pacer Nathan McAndrew played one of the vital roles in this victory of Sydney Thunder. The team finally won the game for his controlled bowling in the last over of the innings. In the last over, Brisbane Heat needed 16 runs to win with 4 wickets in hand. McAndrew sent a devastating Colin Munro to the dressing room on the second ball of the over. Munro returned to the pavilion just staying 2 runs short of the century.
