In the battle for the title, Barbados Royals and Jamaica Tallawahs clashed in the final match of CPL 2022 at Providence Stadium, Guyana early today, Bangladesh time. Batting first, Barbados Royals set a good target in the allotted 20 overs for the opposition. But chasing that target, Jamaica Tallawahs reached the target very easily before the allotted 20 overs were over. As a result, they won the tournament. Along with this, Fabian Allen won the Player of the Match title and Brandon King won the Man of the Series award for Jamaica Tallawahs.

They somehow made it to the playoffs, as the number four team. Jamaica Tallawahs played brilliantly and won the two knockout matches of the playoffs. Coming to the finals, they blew up the top team in the points list, Barbados Royals.

Rovman Powell’s Jamaica defeated Kyle Myers’ Barbados by 8 wickets in the final of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Saturday. Barbados Royals have been blown away by a Brandon King’s storm. Shamarh Brooks gave him worthy support in the run chase. As a result, Jamaica passed the challenging target of 162 runs with 23 balls in hand.

Barbados Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first and sent off the Jamaica Tallawahs to bowl. Batting first, the two openers Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Myers did not make a bad start. Rahkeem scored 36 off 21 balls with the help of 2 fours and 4 sixes. And Myers returned to the pavilion with 29 runs off 19 balls with the help of 6 fours.

However, Azam Khan’s 51 from 40 balls gave Barbados big oxygen. His innings had 4 fours and 3 sixes. Besides, Jason Holder scored 17 off 19 balls. However, none of the rest could reach double digits. Najibullah Zadran scored 6 from 12 balls, Corbin Bosch scored 7 from 5 balls, Devon Thomas scored 7 from 3 balls, Mujeeb ur Rahman scored 1 run from 1 ball. In the end, they set a target of 162 runs with 7 runs extra.

For Jamaica Tallawahs, Fabian Allen took 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs and Nicholson Gordon took 3 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Imad Wasim took 1 wicket.

Jamaica Tallawahs got hit early in the run chase. They lost the wicket of Kennar Lewis in the first over. When the team’s run was only 1. Kennar Lewis returned to the pavilion with a golden duck.

However, Brandon King took the lead of the team. She is ably accompanied by Shamarh Brooks. Brandon King played the stormy innings of 83 runs off 50 balls. He had 13 fours and 2 sixes in this innings.

Shamarh Brooks was dismissed for 47 off 33 balls. His innings were decorated with 2 sixes and 6 fours. It is this pair that puts Jamaica on a solid foundation. After that, Rovman Powell came to the crease when Brooks was out. He remained unbeaten on 14 off 13 balls with a six.

Jamaica Tallawahs scored 162 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 16.1 overs to take the match away. This is their third CPL title. Kyle Myers and Jason Holder took one wicket each for Barbados.
