Barbados Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors met yesterday in the 22nd match of CPL 2022 at the Brian Lara Stadium, Taruba, Trinidad. Batting first, Barbados Royals set a target of close to 110 due to the DLS method. But the Guyana Amazon Warriors could not reach the target as the scheduled 16 overs ended. As a result, they have to leave the field with a loss. At the end of this match, Barbados Royals are at the top of the points table and Guyana Amazon Warriors are at the bottom of the points table after losing the match. Also, Jason Holder won the player of the match title for his timely batting and bowling for the Barbados Royals.

Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and elected to bowl first, and invited Barbados Royals to bat. Batting first, the Barbados Royals did not have a good start, losing 4 wickets in 38 runs. First, Rahkeem Cornwall returned to the dressing room at the team’s 22 runs. He scored 20 runs off 18 balls, with 2 fours and 1 six. Then 2 more wickets fell within 4 runs. Corbin Bosch and Quinton de Kock were dismissed for zero runs. Kyle Myers left the field with only 9 runs after playing 20 balls.

In the end, they scored 107 runs with 7 runs extra.

Chandrapaul Hemraj took 3 wickets for 15 runs in 3 overs for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Junior Sinclair took 2 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs. In addition, Imran Tahir took 1 wicket.

The target was 108 runs. But in response, Guyana Amazon Warriors stopped at just 81 runs after losing 9 wickets in the allotted 16 overs. Batting first, they did not get off to a good start. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Chandrapaul Hemraj (4) left the field first. Then Paul Stirling left the field, scoring only 11 runs. Then Kimo Paul (6), Shimron Hetmyer (12), Henrik Klassen (6), Romario Shepherd (4), Jermaine Blackwood (8), Odion Smith (15), and Imran Tahir (5) left the field one by one. Besides, Junior Sinclair was unbeaten on 7 runs. In the end, Guyana Amazon Warriors left the field after losing by 29 runs with 3 extra runs.

For Barbados Royals, Rahkeem Cornwall took 2 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs, Obed McCoy took 2 wickets for 24 runs in 3 overs and Ramon Simmonds took 2 wickets for 21 runs in 3 overs. Besides, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Hayden Walsh, and Jason Holder took 1 wicket each.
